Future of reference service - Abram video

abram.jpg

I'm on my second watching and I'm still mezmerized. It's Stephen Abram's talk from the May 15, 2006  MINITEX Reference Symposium that is available online.

The video is available at: http://www.minitex.umn.edu/train-conf/highlights/2006-05-15/  .  The high resolution for broadband connection version includes the video of the speakers, the audio, and the PowerPoint images that made up the presentation.  The low resolution for dial-up connection version includes the audio and the PowerPoint images. (The high res, broadband connection is much better.)

This is a must-watch for every librarian - school, public or academic. It's the first time I've been able to visualize what a genuinely usable virtual library and library service might look like. Great fun and Abram is a terrific speaker.

If you are a classroom teacher, the video is still worth watching. What's happening in libraries will be happening in your classroom soon...
