Plato quote again

From USA Today, 12-18-05: This is the Google  Side of Your Brain. Another view of the threat of technology destroying a human capacity. Explored before in The Blue Skunk.

Why is this a negative thing? Why can't it be an amazing sign of progress? Just think of the problems it solves. No more disasters of finding yourself at the airport without a ticket or at the bookstore not knowing the title of the book you were going to look for. The information is out there and easy to find. Amazing!

Hi Janet,

Oh, I don't think this is negative at all. I just think it is ironic that whenever a new technology appears, some folks will see it as a threat. I wouldn't trade my access to Google (or snippets of information), for anything.

Heaven help me when the electricity goes out though!

All the best and Happy New Year,

Doug
