Home office meme
Christian Long at think:lab is encouraging a "home office" meme. I have two home offices.
Summer
Winter
Hey, I thought the whole idea behind wi-fi and laptops was that you didn't have to be tied to a desk. I already sit at a desk way too much at work. I don't need to be chained to one at home - even if I am working.
Christians writes, "Wondered what it [the office] said -- and didn't say -- about me, my working/thinking/learning style..."
Whenever I see another person's computer desktop I always think I get a snapshot of his/her brain. Do you keep every file out there or is everything tucked away in neat folders out of view? As long as you are putting up a picture of your home office, share a screen shot of your computer's desk top too! If you dare.

I also do not have an office at home. I recline on the couch, or sit out side on the patio weather permitting. If I need to use paper I move to the dinning room table. I use to use the desk top in the home office room but my husband and son have taken over that room. Husband likes the desktop and each kid and I have our own laptops. So really the house is everyones office.
My home office is my recliner too!! Best, and probably sad to some degree, that laptop travels with me everywhere. My family recently went to Chicago for a vacation (from South Carolina) and the three of us (me, my husband, and my 17yo son) all took our laptops. So our "office" sort of traveled with us. But you can't beat online reservations, menus, things to do, directions, and more, which we used during the trip. Oh and we also posted pix to flickr and a family blog.
My home office is a large wooden desk with three computers under and over it. One of the three is a laptop that can be run on the desk and moved out onto the patio or operated from in the garden. Of course during winter staying in-doors is the best, although on a nice winter sunny day it can be just plain glorious out on the partio protected from the wintry wind. In summar the patio or the garden is best. BUT THEN I always like coming back to my office desk where I hold anything else important to me when I work on blogging, or other document writing.
I'll take that challenge! (though, given the state of my desktop these days, I probably shouldn't....)
