And in case you are wondering, it has nothing to do with carbon footprints...

It is 12 degrees in Providence and not even snowing, but they called it last night. That's what happens after you drive off the previous superintendent for getting kids stranded in buses in a snow storm.

If we cancelled school on the days it goes below -30 in Canada, the school year would be cut in half! Put on a toque and get out there!

Hi Tom,

And the longest drive in Rhode Island is only about 10 minutes, right? (I remember speaking at a conference and hearing people complain about their 20 minute drive to get to Providence.)

Stay warm,

Doug

Hi Jo-Anne,

Yes, m’am!

I would appreciate it, however, if you Canadians would just shut the door and keep some of nice cold air up with you.

Thanks for the comment and enjoy your weekend,

Doug

Well here in Nashville the low was supposed to be around 2 last night, so they cancelled school. The coments section in the newspaper was full of how we are wasting time and money when we should be educating kids. The true situation is that more than half of the kids came to school yesterday in their warmest clothing and it was a hoodie or a light jacket or both in layers. Many of our families can't afford food and electricity, so buying a coat you might need for 15-20 days a year just isn't cost effective. I'm enjoying a day at home catching up on reading blogs and books and a four day weekend.

Hi Colleen,

You put things into perspective in a very positive way. Thanks!
