Nerd fashion

Yes, the glasses above have little LED lights built right into them! I found these at a Brookstone store in the Atlanta airport. Are they cool or what?

One of the first signs of aging eyes was my having trouble reading small print in dim light. Perhaps had I had little LEDs built into my forehead, I'd still not need the damn reading glasses today.

BTW, my cheaters (that I buy from Target in packs of three) are migratory. In the middle of the night, they all get up and move to the same room - family room, bedroom, porch - where I am sure they have a little party and find themselves too exhausted to return to their original positions by morning. I have no other way to explain why I can never find the damn things.

Very nice glasses. I can't believe they have their own LED lights! Does the "LED" weigh you down too much? :)

I was going to tease you about the nerdiness, then realized I was already on Amazon looking up Kenneth Roberts novels and realized the irony.

My wife teases me about my drug store glasses. I can certainly identify with your struggle with small print in dim light. I need 175's.

I had to give up the cheaters when I couldn't read books well nor read the road signs easily. Hmmm, welcome to bifocals. My nephew gave me a spelunker headlight to wear on airplanes. Imagine the looks I get! Come to think of it, he was a cheeky little bugger to even suspect I need the headlight.

Hi Paul,

These glasses are as light as a feather. I think I like them even more that the headlamps like the one you got for Christmas. I'll have to see if I can find a pair of these without prescriptions.

BTW, what's on your Christmas list this year?

Love, Grandpa

Hi Ninja,

I didn't know reading Kenneth Roberts made you nerdy. I re-read Northwest Passage since I remember it being sort of sexy when I was in high school. It's not. But still a good read. Try to find a copy with a less-musty smell than mine had!

Hi Paul,

I'm just at 150s so far. Better yet, if I stand on one leg and squint, I can still pass my driver's license eye test without glasses!

All the best,

Doug

Hi Gwen,

The little book lights that clip on to the cover of a book aren't too bad either. It's just that I can never find mine when I want it either! I would say that the headlight looks even geekier than the glasses. I gave my grandson a headlight for Christmas and his mom says he uses it to read in bed!

All the best,

Doug

Finally, a less serious post! The blue skunk was keeping up at night.
Most of the time I just repeat the serenity prayer. You probably know that one.

Hi Janice,

Thanks for the reminder to lighten up a little! Not sure what's in the air right now, but the profession seems nervous as a whole. Maybe a good thing if that can be channeled in positive ways.
