What does a librarian look like? - follow up

Here's a sneak preview of my son's proposed art work for my Head for the Edge book. I asked Blue Skunk readers to help describe "How do you draw a librarian?" a couple weeks ago.

What do you think?

See yourself in either of these?

I think I looked like the first one today. Is that good or bad, I wonder???

I love the first one. There are so many days when I feel the need for more arms like your super woman! Maybe I just need to learn to skate! Your son did a great job.

I definitely like the second one better.
In the first one, I can't tell what's on top of her head; it looks like some kind of armor or something turning into horns. Secondly, I like the idea of needing to have lots of arms, but I don't like that the arms look like insect arms, or that it looks like the librarian is ripping the paper out of the hands of the kids. I know it sounds critical, but if you were looking for feedback, that's mine. Second one works better for me.

Hi Janice,

Thanks for the comment. I'm wondering what the Linworth editors will make of this work as well!

All the best,

Doug

I definitely relate to the first one! As a solo act in an elementary school, I often feel just like that image as I strive to help 3-4 (or more!) children at one time.

I love the multi-arm model, but I'm thinking he/she might need more than one head too!

Looks like he's going to nail the wind to the wall, so to speak.

I really enjoy the first drawing! I agree with Mary that the first librarian may be in need of another head. I am studying to be a librarian right know (junior in college) and these illistrations definately depict some of the days that I have had and how I have felt while working in my home town library.

I love the first one. It is exactly how I feel many days. I moved my desk from the little office onto the library floor two years ago to create better visibility. It also makes me multi-task more.
