Signs, signs - again

from the Ames Public Library (via my friend Lance Wilhelm):

Our patrons are the most important people in this department whether in person, by phone or e-mail.
Our patrons are not dependent on us, we are dependent on them.
Our patrons are not an interruption of our work; they are the purpose of it.
Our patrons do us a favor by coming in. We aren't doing them a favor by waiting on them.
Our patrons come to us with their wants and needs; it is our job to fulfill them.
Our patrons are not cold statistics, they are human beings.
Our patrons are not to argue or match wits with, but to help.
Our patrons are deserving of the most courteous and attentive treatment we can offer.
Not a bad thing to remember whether working with adults or children, in a library or tech service.

Doug: This same theme is one librarians in Midwest City, Oklahoma emphasized in the video we created together on August 9th, " When I Become a Librarian."

Thanks, Wes, for the link. The video was great - just a little too familiar sounding.
