10 years of BS

My superintendent says he has friend in Wisconsin who refers to me as "the Blue Skunk guy" and believes that friend does not actually know my real name. It's not the first time over the years that I've been called Blue Skunk rather than Doug Had I known this would happen, I might have been more careful in selecting the title of this blog.

Last Friday was the 10th year anniversary of the Blue Skunk blog. Really? My reasons for starting, and I suppose to a degree, continuing is writing activity can be found in the little section "Why the Blue Skunk blog?" The first post (that I can find) was "Problems first, tech second" posted on August 8, 2005. The theme of the post is one on which I've dwelled many times.

Like most writers, I have times of great inspiration and productivity and times of writer's block and laziness. Summer is a tough time for me to focus on any kind of professional writing. To some degree, I hope to continue to write in the blog for a few more years. From "Why the Blue Skunk blog?":

As it's turned out, I've continued to write simply because it has been so dang much fun. I amuse myself on a fairly regular basis, and if when doing so I amuse you as well, so much the better. I love the comments - both contrary and supportive. And I enjoy the simple freedom of having no editor other than one's own conscience.

Thank you, readers. Enjoy the waning days of summer.
