When to pay attention

Teacher: I am tired of having to compete for student attention in my classroom with smartphones and tablets and other devices.

Provocateur: Do you ever look at your cell phone during a faculty meeting?

Teacher: Yes, but only when the topic doesn't apply to me.

Provocateur: Might that be the same criteria your students use when deciding to attend the lesson - or attend their phone?
