Do you feel lucky, punk?

Do you suppose the superintendent in Texas that is allowing teachers to pack heat is a Blue Skunk reader?

See Arm the Teachers from last November.

I doubt he can read Blue Skunk in his schools. His teachers can carry guns but they probably are not allowed to use blogs, YouTube, or MySpace in front of the kids.

Something is very warped here.

Shocked when I read the news. What message does this communicate to students? What next - an NRA student club?

Amazing, isn't it. The irony lies mostly in the fact that teachers most likely would never need guns in Harrold, TX. Having lived in northern Texas (Denton), I can say the people are, for the most part, friendly and open - especially in the small towns.

It's the schools with metal detectors at the doors that you've gotta look out for - but then again, would a teacher packing heat really make things safer all around?

Darren and Paul I had the same reaction when I read about this in my local paper. The school has a population that numbers lower than a typical elementary school in a mid-sized city. How violent are those students out in Texas?

Boy if he is a blue skunk reader and got the idea from that entry, I hope he never reads Swift's "A Modest Proposal" or else the school cafeteria will see a whole new menu.
