Real men read

One of Minnesota's own, Tori Jensen, is getting national press for her "Real Men Read" project. A great summary can be found here on the Education World website.

This is very cool and should be a model for any school who may find that its male demographic reading scores could use a bump.

(That's Tori's superintendent in the poster at the right.)

Oh, I fixed the link to ALA's Read Poster generator. Find example and link here.

Great idea but that guy would not make ANY of my kids want to grab a book. Maybe John Cena or a High School Musical Star.

@ Doug
An interesting post. I just finished reading Boys Adrift by Leonard Sax. The book takes a stab at explaining the growing sense of apathy amongst the male population. It is summarized below. Some of the arguments are very intriguing.

Hi Ninja,

I heard the guy in the poster was voted sexiest superintendent in west metro area for the past three years in a row. Are you implying that educational administrators aren't idolized by students?

Doug

Thanks, Charlie,

As the grandfather of two boys, I read the presentation with great interest.

Thanks for the link, Gary. I hadn’t been to Scieska’s site for a while. He’s been beating this drum for quite a number of years. And his books are great too.
